Hole in the wall burglary ring indicted

7 accused members of the hole in the wall burglary gang are indicted on 18 counts for a wave of burglaries at Albany stores.

Prosecutors say the men worked together to break in to stores last summer.

They would use sledgehammers to break holes in the walls of stores and take money and cigarettes.

Their plan was to hit stores in different areas of town to overwhelm police.

Dougherty District Attorney Greg Edwards said "They worked in conjunction, and almost in a sense attempted to overwhelm the resources to try to address these crimes they allegedly committed."

Some of the men who have previous convictions could face more than one hundred years in prison if convicted on all the charges.
