ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty District Attorney wants to protect law enforcement, and make sure recent controversies across the nation are not used as excuses to attack officers.
Adam Gay was indicted on two counts of obstruction of an officer and DUI. Prosecutors say during a traffic stop on November 8th, Gay pushed Georgia State Patrol Trooper Robert Corbin and ran.
The D. A. says he won't tolerate violence against officers.
"We're sensitized to these issues, but by the same token we are asking our officers to do a lot. They are risking their lives, literally, everyday, by trying to address the issues of our community," said Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards.
The D. A. says his office will always recommend prison time for people convicted of attacking police officers.
