AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Folks in Americus residents are fathering for a community prayer event downtown.
Organizers say recent crimes in the area have saddened many in the community.
They hope this event will bring back good morale and spark pride in Americus.
The event will take place at Lenny's Farmer's market.
"Our community has been through a lot lately and we are just feeling the pain that we've all been going through and so there's a group of folks that have come together and decided, hey, we need to pray together," said Angie Singletary Prayer organizer.
Singletary hopes the event will become a quarterly occurrence. The prayer night will last until about 6 o'clock.
