ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Housing Authority takes a step toward redeveloping central Albany.
Tonight, the authority board approved a contract with Hunt-Boulevard Developers for the company to oversee a nearly $10 million project.
"Which is the construction of some off site housing on the 500 block of Residence Avenue," said Dan McCarthy, Executive Director. "That would be an opportunity to provide some housing as relocation for residents once we start the demolition process."
The first phase of construction could start this summer after officials submit a low-income housing tax credit application to the state.
The long term plan calls for McIntosh and Golden Age Homes to be demolished and replaced with mixed income housing.
