ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A lifesaving Albany Police officer was honored by the city tonight.
City officials and Police Chief John Procter presented Patrolman Danny Alday with the Officer of the Year Award. He's only been with the department for 18-months.
Procter hailed him as a hero for administering CPR to a woman he found unresponsive in her home. Alday is now encouraging others to become CPR certified.
"It feels good to be recognized," said Patrolman Danny Alday. "We do a lot out there to protect and serve our community so it's special when we're recognized by the people we serve."
The city honored retired APD officer Chuck Simpson as Citizen of the Year and Cynthia Dent as the department's Civilian Employee of the Year.
