Road improvement projects begin in Lee County

Drivers in Lee County are asked to slow down as road construction gets underway.

Commissioners approved spending about $400,000 on road resurfacing projects throughout the county.

Crews expect to start widening four miles of Lovers Lane Road between Robert B Lee Drive and Forrester Parkway Wednesday. if weather permits.

"The board did approve a tax increase. But the conditions were that it would improve infrastructure, public safety, public works and this is some of that tax money that they raised last year being put to work," said Ron Rabun, the Lee County administrator.

Lovers Lane Road will remain open during construction.

Other road resurfacing projects include: North Doublegate Drive, James Pond Road and Stocks Dairy Road.
