ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With spring break vacations from Dougherty County Schools next week, the Sheriff is warning people to use caution posting on social media.
Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul told the Stop The Violence group this afternoon that his office is investigating several recent burglaries and break ins where they believe the crooks used information off social media to know the homeowner was out of town.
"Where they may be residing. Where they may be vacationing. Where the funeral may be. And then that's when they hit your home. That's when they come after you, when you are at your weakest moment," Sproul said.
Sproul suggests that families do not make any social media posts about going on vacation until you are back.
While you are out of town, you can have your home put on the Sheriff's watch list by calling Dougherty County Sheriff's Office at 431-3259.
