ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County School System is encouraging parents to fill out a survey about their child's school.
Last week the state released the results of the first School Climate Rating System.
Schools are ranked on criteria in five areas, including parent's perception of the school, which is gauged from surveys.
Some schools didn't fare well, and officials are hoping parent's participation can help.
"When we have a low turnout on our surveys, on the state surveys, then we don't really have an accurate perception. But if we get 75, 85, 90 percent of our parents to respond then we feel like the parents have let us know how they feel about the school climate," said DCSS Spokesperson R. D. Harter.
If 75% of parents don't partake in the survey the state could count it against the system
The deadline to fill out the survey has been extended to April 30th.
