VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta City school officials were moving ahead Tuesday with plans for the new Valdosta High School with E-SPLOST having been passed in the March 17th special election.

The school system's facilities director, Kaci Nobles, said not having to campaign for E-SPLOST anymore is a huge weight of the school system's shoulders and now they can begin to finalize their design plans for the new school.

"Right now, the construction manager that we have on board will be working diligently to develop the plans more precisely and a budget," Nobles explained.

As of Tuesday, construction on the new high school was expected to begin in January 2016 with the school expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2018-2019 school year.
