Dougherty County libraries to extend hours

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Starting April 6th, library hours will be extended across Dougherty County.

The Library Board voted to add hours, after having to reduce hours dramatically due to budget cuts 5 years ago.

By keeping doors open later, residents will have more flexibility with when and where they can go to the library during the week.

"The Central Library will be open two additional nights, until 8:00, on Tuesday to Wednesday nights," said Pauline Abidde, Director Dougherty County Libraries. "And, the Northwest Library will open on Thursday nights until 8:00."

Abidde said this way there will be more libraries open late from Monday through Thursday.

Libraries will also be open on Fridays from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Only the Westtown Library will keep its current hours.
