Spring break home safety

Col. Taylor Col. Taylor
TIFTON, GA (WALB) - With spring break just around the corner, law enforcers are telling you how to keep your house safe while you're away.

They say you should get a friend or neighbor to pick up your mail while you're out of town; and also cancel your newspaper subscription during that week.

It's also important to leave an outside light on so burglars don't see an empty house.

"If they see a location that looks like it's, no ones home, nothing's changed in a few days, it may be something that they want to hit, said Tift Co. Sheriff's Col. Larry Taylor.

Taylor says it's important to make sure your alarm company calls 911 if it goes off, and not you.
