ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Police are investigating the case of a 10-year-old boy who was hospitalized after drinking alcohol.
On Friday, Dougherty County Schools Police revealed they were investigating the incident.
They later turned the case over to Dougherty County Police after finding the child, who attends Radium Springs Elementary school, did not consume alcohol on school property or on a school bus.
"The school police began the initial investigation and they determined it did not happen at school. So that's something we're investigating to see where it happened at. And see if it did happen at the child's house or not," reported Lt. Chad Kirkpatrick with Dougherty Co. Police.
Officials said a family member noticed the boy was acting strangely Thursday evening after school.
The child, who was not named, was taken to a Macon hospital. Police said he has since been discharged from that facility.
