Girls confess after theft seen on WALB

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Here's an update on a story we reported Friday.

Three young girls were caught on surveillance video shoplifting hundreds of dollars in T-shirts from an Albany Store. Monday, their parents turned them in to Police after seeing them on WALB.

The three girls, two sisters and a friend, were ages 12 and 13, from Worth County.

Their parents had the girls confess to Albany Police. Then they went to Southern Pastimes and paid $380 for the stolen 12 T-shirts. Store managers say they hope this will be a lesson for any teen thinking of stealing.

"I'm hoping this can be a turning point and at least one of them. That, hey we don't have to follow the crowd. We can step away," said Southern Pastimes Manager Joyce Luke.

The store owner said they will prosecute the girls as juveniles, in keeping with their store policy.
