Police investigate cemetery vandalism

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Albany Police are investigating vandalism of a grave at Riverside Cemetery.

Monday morning city employees noticed that vandals smashed a stone on Richard Corhen, Junior's  vault and bent the handle of the casket trying to pull it out.

Vent holes on the other family vault were also damaged.

Corhen was well-known and respected.

His son Richard played basketball for the University of Georgia while another son Bryan played football for Georgia Tech.

His widow says this disturbs her family.

Martha Corhen said "When you put your loved one to rest you want them to rest.  Not just for them to come and disturb it.  Because this is disturbing for me to come back and look at this again."

If you have any information about this cemetery vandalism, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.
