ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A famous singer and a former NFL star helped inspire young people Thursday night and raise money for the Albany Boys and Girls Clubs.
It was a night full of inspiration that included a performance by American Idol Winner Ruben Studdard and the Albany High School Choir
Former University of Georgia and Washington Redskins star Phillip Daniels was the guest speaker.
He encouraged kids to work hard, set high goals, and stay out of trouble.
"Continue to strive to be better. And keep doing the things that you need to do to better yourself. There are a lot of people out there willing to help you just let them. Listen to your adults and listen to your teachers. Listen to all the people around you because they are going to give you solid advice," said Daniels
Daniels said he loves doing what he can to help young people.
"I just love working with kids. My major was social work and I love working with kids. And I love seeing them smile."
He also said it's important to give back.
"These kids are our future. And we need to help them get to where they need to be."
Boys and Girls Club officials said this fundraiser helps the organization serve kids all year.
"When we do events like this it helps us keep those costs down to our your people so that everyone has the opportunity to experience the boy and girls club. "
Even our own Karla Heath-Sands performed The Star - Spangled Banner.
