Two arrested for trespassing Americus

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Americus Police hope two arrests will clear multiple copper thefts around town.

John Ragsdale and Patrick Barfield were arrested Wednesday after a citizen noticed suspicious activity near an empty warehouse.

Police spotted the two and found several tools in their car.

Later the owners of the warehouse noticed copper missing from the building.

"We do need the citizens' input, citizens' cooperation, and we do not believe that this is just a single two individuals--possibly there are others committing these same types of crimes," said Americus PD Major Herman Lamar.

Ragsdale and Barfield are only charged with criminal trespass right now.

Investigators hope to link the duo to the stolen copper.
