Catching insurance fraud is not easy

Ralph Hudgens Ralph Hudgens
ADEL, GA (WALB) - Georgia's Fire and Insurance Safety Commissioner said Tuesday that prosecuting insurance fraud is not easy.

Monday, WALB reported that Teresita Heard, a sub-agent with Cory Bromlow Insurance and Financial Services in Adel, was arrested on Friday, March 13th and was facing multiple charges as of Tuesday, including embezzling insurance money and fraud.

Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said he's glad they caught this when they did because often people don't realize that their insurance agent is scamming them until they actually need insurance and find out they don't have it.

"We wanna get the message to insurance agencies that they have to play by the rules, and if they don't my department's gonna be their worst enemy because we're comin' after them," Commissioner Hudgens emphasized.

Heard was free on bond as of Tuesday. WALB Reached out to Cory Bromlow Insurance and Financial Services Tuesday, but they declined to comment.

To file a complaint or to report suspicious insurance activity, call the Commissioner's Consumer Services Department at 1-800-656-2298.
