ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dozens of Dougherty County and Albany city officials attended the opening of the Robert Cross Park Clubhouse Monday.
Robert Cross' family and friends cut the ribbon on the 45 hundred square foot all purpose building at the park named for Cross.
He was a member of the County Board of Education and a long time track coach and teacher at Albany State University.
"Today brings back a lot of memories when they first dedicated this park to him. And how many people were here. Today reminds me of that. And if he were here, he would really be smiling," said Doris Cross, widow.
The building cost $833,000 and with a full catering kitchen can host 400 people.
Officials said it's a good investment for green infrastructure in that part of the county.
The County public works office will be in charge of its rental.
