How to keep your trash from getting trashed

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany public works cleaned up a trashy site in East Albany today.

City Commissioner Jon Howard first thought the mess on Cason Street was an illegal dump site.

But it turns out the person who lived there bagged up clothes and trash and set it out.

Someone then went through the items and threw the trash everywhere.

Public works says a simple phone call can prevent something like this.

“The proper way to handle this type of debris is to call the public works department, and a work order will be made out, and we will schedule this type of debris to be picked up,” says Daniel Whigham, with Public Works.

You can do that by calling the 311 help line.
