VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Around 2:00 Monday morning, a Lowndes Co. Sheriff's deputy stopped a Chevrolet Cruze traveling north on I-75, for weaving in traffic.
The driver got off at Exit 16 and stopped on West Hill Avenue, where the deputy came up and talked to the three men, all from Evansville, Indiana. He called for a drug-sniffing dog to conduct a sniff of the car. The dog alerted, and then deputies searched the car.
The deputies found approximately nine pounds of marijuana, in a travel bag inside the trunk.
The driver, Alordo Marcellus Bell, 23, and his passengers, Broc Edward Gunn, 23, and Jacobi Quentel Fitzgerald, 22, were all placed under arrest and taken to the Lowndes County Jail, where they were all booked for trafficking marijuana.
They will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court Monday afternoon for an arraignment hearing, where a bond will be considered.
Lowndes Co. Sheriff Chris Prine explained this investigation is continuing as detectives work to identify the source and destination of the marijuana.
