ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dozens of South Georgia students are being recognized for their artwork.
The 35th annual Kiwanis Club Student Art competition was held at the Albany Museum of Art. More than 50 students from Dougherty and Lee County in grades 6 through 12 received ribbons for their artwork. Art teachers submitted at least 250 pieces of artwork to be judged by the Albany Area Arts Council.
"This is one of the days when I'm most proud to be a Kiwanian because our motto is serving the children of the world one child and one community at a time," said Kristin Caso, Organizer.
The first place winners in each grade level will have their artwork displayed in the Georgia District Kiwanis Music and Art Showcase in Albany on April 25th. $15,000 in scholarships will be awarded to students. Below are the Best of Show winners:
1st Place: 12th grader Ambrosia Oliver, Dougherty County High School, "Lost Without You"
2nd Place: 9th grader Johnathan Herrbold, Deefrield-Windsor School, "Focus"
3rd Place: 12th grader Josie Fallin, Lee County High School, "Girl"
