ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Theatre Albany took home five awards from the 66th Southeastern Theatre Conference's Awards Ceremony.
The cast performed "The Lady of Larkspur Lotion" by Tennessee Williams in Chattanooga, Tennessee last weekend. They competed against 13 productions from nine Southeastern states. Tennessee Williams received an award for Best Production. Also garnering awards were Eddie McCarty for Best Actor, Jennifer Kirk Bowers for Best Actress, Mark Costello for Best Director and Steve Felmet for Outstanding Scenic Design. The cast will now compete on a national stage.
"The American Association of Community Theatre Act Fest is the entire country," said Mark Costello, Artistic Director. "I would equate it with March Madness when it comes to community theatres. It's only every two years that they have this festival, they don't have it every year so we're very pleased and proud and looking forward to it."
They will compete in Grand Rapids, Michigan in June.
