LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Flooded roads in Lee County reopened Friday afternoon, but are being monitored closely.
A Flash Flood Warning was issued for Lee County just after 8:30 Thursday night.
The storm dumped over 3 inches of rain in a short period of time.
This caused numerous roads to be closed for an extended period of time and standing water on the roads caused bus routes to be redirected.
"When you have water on the road and you can't see the bottom of the ground it becomes a concern. So, we closed off Murphy and Armena in that area until we could secure it this morning and make sure it was safe to get back on," said Mike Sistrunk Lee County public works director.
More rain is in the forecast so crews have been working around the clock to get the roads back to reasonable driving conditions.
