BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - A Bainbridge murder suspect has been denied bond as he made his first appearance in court Friday.
19-year-old Caliah Burns turned himself in to Bainbridge Public Safety Thursday afternoon around 4:30.
Burns is charged with the felony murder of Ricardo James after last weekend's shooting.
Investigators say Burns has not confessed to the murder, but decided to turn himself in for his own safety.
"He felt like his safety was in danger. He felt that maybe he would be retaliated against and that there were threats made towards him and his family. So he went ahead and turned himself in," Bainbridge Public Safety Investigator Chip Nix.
Investigators are still searching for the weapon used in the shooting. If you have any information, you are asked to call Bainbridge Public Safety.
