Mitchell Co. Sheriff Office searching for thieves

MITCHELL CO., GA (WALB) -

The Mitchell County Sheriff's Office is looking for some thieves who stole about $40,000 worth of equipment from John Deere dealership in Mitchell County, just north of Pelham.

The burglary happened early Monday morning.

Investigators say they came in on the backside of the property and cut through the fence.

The keys were in the ignition of an ATV and commercial lawnmower.

Deputies caution folks to be on the look for anyone who looks suspicious.

“The type of MO that we are working with on these suspects, they will generally case out these areas, businesses prior to going in, they will go in and ask about certain merchandise, specifically the higher grade lawn mowers, four wheelers,” said Matthew Miller, Mitchell County Investigator.

He said as the warmer months approach these kinds of thefts are more common.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Mitchell County Sheriff's office.
