TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - "$20, $5, whatever."
Friends and family of a Tifton teenager who died Wednesday are asking for your help.
17-year old Chance King was hit by a car while riding his skateboard to school yesterday. Chance started working at a Tifton Papa John's about 4 months ago. Now, his co-workers are organizing a pizza night to raise money to help pay for his burial.
Friends and family of Chance King still can't believe he's gone. His co-workers across town at Papa John's are still in shock.
"For the past day and a half, I haven't been the same person. It's absolutely devastated me. And those feelings are shared by everybody here at Papa John's," said assistant manager Michael Simpson.
They say his positive attitude and upbeat spirit made work a whole lot easier.
"He would make it more enjoyable for everybody else at work. And that's not something that you can replace," said Simpson.
What they can replace, though, are the empty pockets of Chance's family. Next Wednesday, they're selling pizzas to raise money for Chance's funeral.
"We'll donate all the net profits to support him and be able to take care of anything that needs to be taken care of," said Simpson.
Friends are also stepping up to help, setting up a Gofundme account to raise money. Their goal is $5,000, and any donation helps them get there.
"A dollar, $2, anything, food. Noe could use all the help he could get," said friend Charlene Taylor.
Taylor says King was loved by everyone who knew him, and this is just one way to give back.
"He'd do it for anybody else. Chance was a good kid," said Taylor.
A kid taken away too soon. His family is also holding a vigil tomorrow night around 6 o'clock near Ferry Lake Road and Clay Drive where Chance got hit. His GoFundMe can be found
