GRADY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Grady county continues to await approval from the Army Corps of Engineers to begin filling Tired Creek Lake.
The corps determined that mitigation work, such as restoring wetlands and streams in and around the project, did not comply with the permit issued to the county in 2010.
County Attorney Kevin Cauley said they're trying to determine specific requirements to satisfy the corps.
Cauley said, “We're anxious to fill. We're at that point. We have a dam that's constructed. For all intents and purposes it's complete. There are a few small punch list items that still have to be done, but not many.”
Cauley said it may take up to several months before the site is approved to start filling.
