Semis collide on Newton Road

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  Traffic was diverted around a couple of tractor trailer rigs that smashed into each other about 2:00, just south of Albany.

The entire front end of a truck driven by 51-year-old Marion Palmer of Dothan, Alabama was ripped off, when it was hit by the other semi heading east.

Police say Palmer pulled out in front of 44 year old Ray Johnson's truck which was hauling a load of chicken nuggets for Sexton Company, headed east on Oakhaven Drive.

Palmer's truck was a Swift Transportation semi that was headed south on Newton Road.

The front end of one of the tractors was knocked loose by the force of collision, but neither driver appeared to be severely injured.
