LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Lee County will continue to provide a safe place for model airplane enthusiasts to enjoy their hobby.
The County Commission is working out a deal to allow the Albany Model Airplane Club a space to fly near the prison.
The county is taking back their current designated flying area.
"Lee County needs the land that we're currently on for their landfill expansion, and they graciously offered us a location on Jordan Road to move to so we're in the process of signing a lease and moving there," said Club President Ted Fann.
That lease will cost the club just a dollar a month.
Commissioners are expected to approve the deal at their next meeting.
Club members say the public is welcome to come out and watch them fly.
