Initiative aims to boost South Georgia economy

A new project promoting South Georgia is expected to give the area's economy a boost.

Locate South Georgia is a regional marketing initiative for economic development. 21 counties in South Georgia are banding together to promote the entire region.

It's a networking and marketing opportunity that hopefully will bring in new jobs and investment.

"We hope that companies will see Southwest Georgia in a way they haven't before because of the regional effort. And we hope they'll come here and spend a little time," said Justin Strickland, the Albany Dougherty County EDC President.

EDC officials also unveiled new merchandise for the "only one Albany" campaign. Starting next week you can buy shirts, hats, lapel pins, car tags and decals and a carrier. You can buy the apparel at the EDC office, or on facebook.
