VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A fundraising event to benefit the Valdosta Lowndes County Humane Society was set to get underway Monday evening in Valdosta.

The Zaxby's on Inner Perimeter Rd. agreed to donate 10% of its sales from 5-8 p.m. Monday to the humane society.

The humane society's director, Candice Wakefield, said they have done this before and have always had good success and she said it was important that they continue to have that same success.

"It goes towards always helping with the animals; getting the word out. It helps to keep us here so we can continue, also, to have the low cost spay and neuter program," Wakefield emphasized.

If you would like to help the humane society at any time, visit their website http://www.humanesocietyofvaldosta.org/
