WORTH CO., GA (WALB) - A log truck was heading north on State Highway 256 in Worth County at mile marker 7, when it rounded a curve, and rolled over on its side, between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m. Monday.

The logs spilled out in highway blocking the road, and moments later a Toyota pick up truck turned the same curve and slammed into the log truck.

"We do get a lot of crashes in the rural areas of the county, mainly because it is dark, you can't see anything. You've got deer that cross the road. But a crash like this pretty isolated," said Trooper David Fretwell.

The driver of the pickup had to be airlifted to a Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, a trauma center facility, with what authorities described as severe head injuries.

The driver of the log truck also suffered minor injuries, and was sent to Phoebe Worth Hospital in Sylvester.

Scooterville Road was shut down, but later opened again to traffic.
