South Georgia Tech Lady Jets win NJCAA District J

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Just last year, the South Georgia tech Jets women's basketball team won the NJCAA District J championship.

And on Saturday afternoon, the Jets had a chance to do it again in front of their home crowd.

The Jets hosted Denmark Technical College and led by six at the half.

But in the second half, caught fire offensively.

Led in part by Alexis Armstrong's 22 points, the Jets pulled away 12 minutes into the half.

South Georgia Tech went on to win the NJCAA District J Championship 83-65.

"Second half, we spread the floor," said Head Coach James Frey. "We were able to attack. We get any shot we wanted in the second half and we finally made some. So, that was exciting."

Frey and the Jets will advance to the 2015 NJCAA Division I Tournament in Kansas, starting March 16th.
