A non-profit group from Atlanta is helping keep old shoes out of landfills by recycling them.
Representatives with Ecosneakers collected old running shoes tonight.
They clean them up and give them to the homeless, or send them to third world countries.
"It's important because it cuts down on diseases. A lot of diseases are transferred through the feet, so as your walking along you step on something, bacteria and parasites come up through the feet, so that's important," says Executive Director Bobby Johnson
The program helps keep 750, 000 shoes out of landfills each year.
