ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Marathon has a huge economic impact on the city. Most hotels are full, and many restaurants were packed Friday night.
Small business owners say tonight's expo was also a great business opportunity for them.
Chris Phillips owns Wildside Running in Albany. He says he sold a lot of shoes tonight, and the marathon is great for the city of Albany.
"It just brings more people to Albany and for a couple of days this week it feels like Albany is just the center of the running and its just amazing to see all these people come together," said Owner Chris Phillips.
He hopes the marathon will continue to grow and hit the 2,000 runner mark soon.
