TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A new study at Vanderbilt University suggests that peanuts are healthier than you may think.
The Georgia Peanut commission says it's the first study that shows the health benefits across racial and demographic lines.
Researchers say peanuts are nutritious and as potent at reducing your chance of heart disease as other nuts.
"Peanuts are generally more cost effect than premium tree nuts, so consumers who are on low incomes can reap the health benefits with purchasing nuts on a budget that will also help their heart," said Joy Carter Crosby director of communications.
