Thomasville SWAT guns stolen

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Two teenagers are in the Thomas county jail, after investigators say they stole guns and other equipment from a deputy and SWAT member's unlocked car.

Investigators say 17-year-olds Jamar Mickens and Marquel Austin broke into the car around 8:30 Tuesday night.

Two automatic weapons and a semi-automatic handgun were stolen.

Police searched and arrested the two men Wednesday morning after spotting them walking near the crime scene.

"The whole community is in danger at that point, because you just don't know what these individuals will do or have the capacity to do," said Lt. Maurice Holmes of the Thomasville Police Department.

Mickens is charged with entering auto. They are both charged with possession of stolen property, possession of certain types of prohibited firearms, and participating in a criminal street gang.

Lt. Holmes said all of the weapons have been recovered.
