Calhoun Co. wins Class A Public state title

Calhoun Co. knocks off Greenville 84-82 to win 2015 GHSA Class A Public State Title.

It was back and forth game earlier this evening between Calhoun County and Greenville up in Macon for the GHSA Class A Public State Championship.

Cougars were down as much as 11.

Then were up by as much as 11 late.

And it almost slipped away.

But, a DaJohn Williams with 6.7 seconds left, gave the Cougars a two point edge, breaking and 82-82 tie.

"I mean, our guys went hard all year long for this," said Head Coach Marcus Shaw. "To see it pay off like this right here is a great feeling. Great group of kids. Words can't express how good it feels right now to have a state championship back at Calhoun County"

The championship is the third in school history.

The first two came in 1972 and 1997.
