CORDELE, GA (WALB) - A silo at a Cordele peanut factory destroyed by fire has been torn down.
Only the base remains at GFA Peanut Company after crews removed the silo last week.
A fire in early February destroyed $750,000 worth of peanuts.
At least 1,000 tons of peanuts from the silo remain on the ground.
Workers hope to have them cleaned up by the end of the month.
Investigators believe a chemical sprayed on the peanuts started the fire.
