Albany Technical College celebrated arbor day by planting a live oak tree.
The school is designated as a "TreeCampus USA." It's been celebrating Arbor Day with a tree planting ceremony for seven years.
The Live Oak is Georgia's state tree. School officials believe it's important to get the whole campus involved in preserving trees.
"It's showing the community how important trees are to our campus," said George Paul, an Environmental Horticulture Instructor at Albany Tech. "And it's also part of us, as a requirement that we do for our TreeCampus USA designation."
As part of being a TreeCampus USA, Albany Tech is required to have an annual tree care plan, a tree advisory board and participate in tree planting events.
