VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A cash mob was held in Valdosta Tuesday to help celebrate a grocery store's anniversary.
It started at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Stan's Quality Meats and Grocery on W. Hill Avenue and was scheduled to last until the store closed at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Residents were encouraged to come out and shop at the store to help celebrate the store's one year anniversary of its new location on W. Hill Avenue and to help put some money back into Valdosta's economy.
"Today, the Lowndes County Democratic Party is hosting a cash mob and our objective is to fill the cash registers at Stan's Quality Meat Outlet and Grocery Outlet because we want to support locally owned and operated businesses," said Tom Hochschild, the party's chairman.
Hochschild said the group planned to do a cash mob at a different local business every three to four months. Businesses interested in taking part can contact the Lowndes County Democratic Party at firstname.lastname@example.org.
