ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Saturday, the Darton State College Lady Cavaliers hosted South Georgia Tech at Cavalier Arena for the GCAA Region 17 Women's Basketball Championship.
The Lady Cavs were perfect at home on the season, and came into the day a 28-4.
But, South Georgia Tech dominated the game, leading by as much as 25 points on the day.
A furious Cavalier run cut the the lead down to as close as eight.
In the end though, South Georgia Tech would go on to win 82-66 and advance to the District Final.
Despite missing their chance, Coach Lea Henry tried to keep the loss in perspective.
"It was just a very special year for our team," said Henry. "We won a lot of games and overcame a lot of obstacles throughout, adversity throughout the season. And, this team really hung together."
The Lady Cavs finished the year with a 28-5 record and multiple All-Region players.
Sophomore B'Kiya Webb earned All-Region 2nd team honors.
Tyneshia Smith earned All-Region 3rd Team honors.
Shanae Armbrister was named to All Region, 1st Team.
She also earned the 2015 Player of the Year award.
And Henry, was named 2015 Coach of the Year.
