VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Friday, the Miracle League of Valdosta was getting ready for its Spring sign up event.

Valdosta Junior Service League members were scheduled to help mentally and physically challenged individuals sign up to play baseball with the Miracle League program at Freedom Park in Lowndes County.

The sign up event was scheduled to be held from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at VSU's baseball park located on North Patterson Street in Valdosta.

As of Friday, the Miracle League's goal was to raise enough money to eventually build a special rubber baseball field at Freedom Park designed specifically for mentally and physically challenged individuals.

"We just encourage the community to come out because it's not just to register children, but we also want to let people know what Miracle League of Valdosta is doing here in Valdosta and surrounding counties," said Meghan Schunoff, one of the Junior Service League members planning to help out at the event.
