ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County school staff members will be getting a little extra in their paychecks.
School board members unanimously approved a two percent cost of living adjustment for certified staff members, which includes bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and custodians.
Superintendent Dr. David Mosely says the system's finances are in good shape and he hopes they can do more in the future.
"Our support people haven't had a raise in seven years. And this was not a lot, but it was something to show good faith and hopefully we can continue."
This is retroactive, starting February first, and will impact about 1,000 people in the system.
It will cost the system about $150,000 this year.
