ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Students at Alice Coachman Elementary pulled together Wednesday for a special clothing drive.
Organizers say the idea was sparked by one student who said they wanted to give back to the community. Parents, staff and student council members worked around the clock to collect donations to give to Goodwill.
Counselor Dr. Dolores Floyd helped supervise the event and says its projects like these that help shape student minds and become great leaders.
"The students learn not to only receive things from everyone but also the importance of giving to others. They did all the leg work, they did all the work, so I think it will pave the way for many other events and activities," said Dr. Floyd
Staff say they have had a tremendous amount of support and are proud of what the students were able to accomplish.
