ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Injured puppies from the Sumter Humane Society in Americus are heading to a rescue facility in Maine.

The two puppies, Roger and Ginger, are about 5 weeks old. The facility will help them rehabilitate from injuries.

Animal Control brought them to the humane society, saying they had most-likely been thrown from a car.

Officials said the dogs had skin conditions and some broken bones.

Meanwhile, the Society's Casino Night fundraiser will be Saturday, March 7.

"This is a great way for people to come out and support the shelter and have a great time. It's a time of fellowship," said Lisa Whitaker with the Humane Society. We have silent auction items we have great food we have gaming tables and its just lots of fun."

They are also raffling tickets in a drawing for 200 gallons of gas at $1 each.

Casino night will be held at the Economic Development Center in Americus.
