GRADY COUNTY, GA (WALB) - Errors in Grady county's budget lead the County Administrator to re-think the county's financial position.
After looking over bank statements from last year, County Administrator Carlos Tobar projected the general fund increased by more than $1 million.
But when he looked closer, he realized that restricted grant funds had been wrongly added into that total, giving a misrepresentation of their financial status.
Tobar said, “This is not our money. This is the taxpayers' money and they need to know how we are accounting for it, what we have, and how we're spending it.”
The county has not completed auditing for 2014, so they will not know if they have a budget surplus for this year for another three weeks.
