Albany city leaders to conduct national search for City Manager

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany city leaders now say they will conduct a national search to find a new City Manager.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard said commissioners asked Interim City Manager Tom Berry to devise a plan to take applications online.

They no longer plan to hire a Deputy City Manager. A position they created last week for Lonnie Ballard with the possibility he could take over as City Manager, before Ballard removed his name from consideration.

“We are looking forward to getting a good city manager in here. Someone who had some experience with the city and someone who is willing to help us move forward. Because we have a number of things on target and on the horizon that we want to see so we need a good person to help us do that,” said Dorothy Hubbard, Albany Mayor.

Mayor Hubbard said Berry plans to come to them with information in the next couple of weeks.

She hopes they'll have applicants to look at in the next 30 to 45 days.
