VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Supporters of the education sales tax in Valdosta and Lowndes County held a kickoff event Tuesday evening for a campaign to convince voters to support the tax.
Voters were expected to decide in March whether to renew the E-SPLOST.
Tuesday evening's event was co-chaired by leaders from the Lowndes County and Valdosta City School systems.
The Lowndes County Co-Chairman, Jerome Tucker, said the event is an important part of making sure everyone knows that the revenue from the tax is vital to both systems. "To ensure that everybody is aware of both the purpose and the uses of the taxes," Tucker stated.
Early voting for the March 17th election began February 23rd and was scheduled to continue through March 13th.
