DECATUR CO., GA (WALB) - Decatur County is getting greener as Georgia Power acquired two solar energy projects in the area.
Tradewind Energy developed the solar farms on nearly 1,000 acres of land.
Georgia Power has agreed to operate the projects.
The county estimates more than $1.7 million in new taxes will come in from the solar developments.
Executive Director of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Development Authority said, “That'll be a huge impact on our tax rolls. Plus, it's going to make us look so progressive having that gigantic solar panel project there. We think it will create a lot of excitement.”
Commercial power generation is expected to start at the plants later this year.
